Cornell Sexual Assault Case Reopened…A 2024 sexual assault case involving a former Cornell student has been reopened after she filed a civil lawsuit alleging she was sexually assaulted by members of the Chi Phi fraternity after being pressured to take ketamine. No criminal charges were filed at the time, and the fraternity was later barred from campus. The student’s attorney says investigators failed to pursue key evidence, including a group chat, while Cornell says its Title IX process resulted in suspensions and expulsions. The county district attorney says he will now review new evidence and present the case to a grand jury.
Common Sense Takeaway: This case is insane and horrific. The lack of judgement by college boys should be studied. It’s also why I believe fraternities should not exist. As a former sorority member, I saw and heard about a lot of really grotesque and alarming things happen at fraternity houses. There’s nothing positive that comes out of them. I hope this woman receives justice for what she endured.
Jack Smith Defends Trump Investigation Before Senate….Former special counsel Jack Smith told senators Tuesday that he stands by his decision to prosecute Donald Trump, saying his investigations uncovered evidence that Trump committed serious crimes related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The hearing quickly turned combative, with Republican senators attacking Smith personally while accusing him of politically targeting Trump. Smith rejected those claims, saying political affiliation should play no role in decisions to investigate or prosecute. Republican Sen. Eric Schmitt accused Smith of accusing of colluding with Fani Willis by attending an Atlanta Hawks game in 2024—except he got his teams wrong and Smith was actually at an Iowa Hawkeyes game that day.
Common Sense Takeaway: Distraction. Distraction. Distraction. They—all of a sudden!—want to subpoena and question Jack Smith right before the midterms. Why? Because they know their approval is in the sh*tter. Also, because Donald Trump told them to. This hearing is a sham, and Senator Eric Schmitt should resign out of embarrassment.
Trump Says AI Regulation Would Stifle Growth….President Donald Trump is doubling down on his opposition to regulating artificial intelligence, arguing that AI could be bigger than the Industrial Revolution and that the U.S. must maintain its lead over China. At a White House meeting with top tech executives, Trump rejected calls for international cooperation or slowing AI development, saying government should instead rely on the DOJ and FBI if companies take AI “down a very dark and dangerous path.” Meanwhile, AI leaders and lawmakers are debating how to address the technology’s potential risks without sacrificing U.S. competitiveness.
Common Sense Takeaway: Great. Thanks for nothing, per usual. The ignorance is just astounding. When people said Donald Trump would kill us all—they might have been right. This man is 80 and on his way out, of course he doesn’t care what happens with AI. He doesn’t have a stake. And let’s be real for one nanosecond, Kash Patel and Tom Blanche—two total buffoons—are not going to save from an AI agent hostile takeover.
