Happy Tuesday and welcome to today’s edition of Common Sense with Ally Sammarco. Today’s breakdown includes Trump’s Greenland obsession, MORE troop deployment in Minnesota, inflation ramping up even more, and the DOJ’s ridiculous subpoenas of Tim Walz and Jacob Frey.
Let’s break it down.
Trump’s Greenland Obsession Alarms More Allies…European leaders are scrambling after Donald Trump publicly shared private messages from French President Emmanuel Macron questioning Trump’s push to seize Greenland. Trump doubled down, declaring there was “no going back,” refusing to rule out the use of force, and threatening tariffs against countries that resist. He also posted AI-generated images of U.S. flags over Greenland and Canada and suggested Europe owes him support because he never received a Nobel Peace Prize. As European leaders prepare for an emergency meeting and Trump heads to Davos to press his case, allies are now grappling with a new reality: private diplomacy with Trump may no longer stay private—and U.S. foreign policy is being conducted in public, by threat and spectacle.
Common Sense Takeaway: This isn’t strength or strategy—it’s recklessness. Broadcasting private diplomatic messages, floating military force, and threatening tariffs over a sovereign territory signals to allies that U.S. foreign policy is all driven by ego and grievance, not stability or trust. That weakens America, not the other way around.
Federal Escalation in Minnesota Is Imminent….The Pentagon has placed roughly 1,500 troops on standby for possible deployment to Minnesota as protests against ICE intensify following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer. While President Trump has publicly floated invoking the Insurrection Act, no formal order has been issued—though federal agencies are clearly escalating. The Justice Department and FBI are expanding their presence, threatening prosecutions tied to protests, including one at a St. Paul church linked to an ICE official. Local leaders warn the federal response is unconstitutional and inflammatory, as schools move to virtual learning and hotels shut down over safety concerns. What began as community outrage over a killing is now morphing into a full-scale federal crackdown—with Minnesota as the testing ground.
Common Sense Takeaway: What should have been accountability for a fatal shooting is being met with militarization and intimidation. Deploying federal force againxst civilian protest, sidelining local leaders, and talking about the Insurrection Act is all part of Trump’s plan to take over Democratic run cities.
Trump Claims He Beat Inflation—The Data Says Otherwise…..Donald Trump is insisting grocery prices are “rapidly” falling, but new federal data shows the opposite: food prices just posted their largest monthly jump since 2022. Coffee prices are up nearly 20% year over year, ground beef is up more than 15%, and overall grocery costs rose 2.4% in 2024. Economists point to supply shortages, weather impacts, and strong demand—but also note Trump’s tariffs have driven up packaging and import costs, quietly pushing prices higher. Despite Trump’s claims that he’s “defeated” inflation, food prices remain elevated, with no relief in sight for families still feeling it at the checkout line.
Common Sense Takeaway: Families don’t buy groceries with talking points. While Trump declares victory over inflation, Americans are still paying more for basic necessities—because facts don’t care about your feelings. And some of his own policies are making it even worse than it ever needed to be.
DOJ Subpoenas Minnesota Leaders in Escalating Federal Tensions…The Justice Department has issued subpoenas to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and other state and local officials, escalating a federal investigation into whether they obstructed Trump administration immigration enforcement. The decision comes after the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen, by an ICE officer. Minnesota leaders say the subpoenas are politically motivated retaliation, noting their offices have challenged the Trump administration’s actions in court. Notably, state officials point out that while local leaders are being investigated, the ICE officer who killed Good is not.
Common Sense Takeaway:
This isn’t about law and order, it’s about power and distraction. Investigations should follow facts and accountability, not be used as a weapon to silence or distract from an unanswered killing of an American citizen in broad daylight. Frey, Walz, and Ellison should not comply with these subpoenas.
That’s it for today. Thanks for reading Common Sense with Ally Sammarco. Check back tomorrow for more.

One took me to Telegraph where "we can talk more comfortably" and soon wanted me to send him/her money to invest in bit/shit coin.
I reported them all to Substack security that acknowledged my complaint a half hour ago.
The One mentioned above was very knowledgeable about how to change my picture on Substack.
This comment won't stay here for much longer as they keep sending new 'girl' followers every few hours now as I keep blocking them.
