Happy Tuesday and welcome back to Common Sense with Ally Sammarco. Let’s break down the latest news.
Maxwell’s Conviction Challenge Rejected….A federal judge has rejected Ghislaine Maxwell’s latest attempt to overturn her conviction and 20-year prison sentence for helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse underage girls. Judge Paul Engelmayer called her claims “meritless” and “frivolous,” and said newly released Epstein files do not support her case. In fact, he said the evidence largely reinforces the original legal rulings and, where relevant, further incriminates Maxwell. Her conviction has already been upheld by a federal appeals court, and the Supreme Court declined to hear her appeal.
Common Sense Takeaway: Goodbye. Forever. Is it sad that this is a huge relief and not a given? It’s obvious that Ghislaine Maxwell should never see the light of day again. It’s already a grave injustice that Trump moved her to a minimum security prison, and I genuinely don’t put it past him to commute her sentence one day. Until then, I will work to make sure that the Epstein survivors receive justice for the abhorrent crimes committed against them.
Trump Floats Renaming Lake Ontario….Trump is now considering renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America,” in a repeat of his controversial move to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.” He even posted an altered map with “Lake Ontario” crossed out and “Lake America” in gold lettering alongside an American flag. The problem? Lake Ontario is shared by the U.S. and Canada, meaning Trump can change what the federal government calls it—but he can’t dictate what Canada or international organizations call it. Meanwhile, Trump is denying Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s claim that U.S. trade negotiators pressured Canada over the use of French and Quebec culture, calling the allegation a “lie.”
Common Sense Takeaway: Canada, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry we have a man child as the president. There’s a million+1 more important things to address than this, but those aren’t priorities in this joke of an administration. Everything Trump does is an attempt to make him feel like a macho-man. My recommendation for you is to call it Lake Canada and trigger the hell out of him. Oh, and continue speaking French. We got your back.
Measles Outbreak Claims Two Lives in Pennsylvania….Two unvaccinated people in Pennsylvania have died from measles—the first measles deaths in the U.S. this year and the first in Pennsylvania in 35 years. The deaths come as the state battles a growing outbreak, with 393 confirmed cases and 70 hospitalizations, most in Lancaster County. Nationwide, the U.S. has recorded 2,777 cases this year, the highest total in 35 years. Meanwhile, childhood vaccination rates continue to decline, even as the Trump administration moves to reduce the number of vaccines recommended for children. The MMR vaccine is about 97% effective at preventing measles after two doses.
Common Sense Takeaway: This is a DIRECT result of vaccine skepticism being pushed by the MAHA movement. It’s honestly sad. There’s a growing movement online of moms rejecting the childhood vaccine schedule to “protect” their children, but the only thing they are protecting is measles and other previously eradicated illnesses. RFK Jr. and Trump have blood on their hands for the death of these Americans.
That’s it for today. Thanks for reading Common Sense with Ally Sammarco. Check back tomorrow for more.

Hi Ally Yes they DO HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS! GO GET THEM AND LET'S MAKE THEM PAY!!! Thanks again for your COMMON SENSE!!
So, I wonder in the people in Lancaster County PA, now reeling from a measles outbreak, are reconsidering their 2024 57.5% vote for Trump and his brain-wormed pick to head the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health. This seems so Darwinian.
