Thom Tillis Calls for Kristi Noem’s Resignation….A Senate hearing today exposed deep Republican infighting as Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) publicly called on Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to resign over her handling of a deadly immigration operation in Minneapolis that left two American citizens dead. Citing an inspector general letter alleging she stonewalled internal investigations, Tillis blasted Noem’s leadership and threatened to block President Trump’s nominees and stall committee business until he receives answers about ICE operations. Tillis also referenced Noem’s memoir, criticizing her past decision to shoot her 14-month-old dog and a goat, arguing it reflected rash judgment similar to what he alleges occurred in Minneapolis.
Common Sense Takeaway: This is how it’s done, and you have to love when Republicans take on their own. Compare this to Senator John Fetterman saying you “have to show respect” to Kristi Noem and you start to wonder if we can trade senators.
School Shooter’s Father Found Guilty….In a landmark decision, a Georgia jury found Colin Gray guilty of second-degree murder and other charges for his role in the 2024 mass shooting at Apalachee High School, where his 14-year-old son, Colt Gray, allegedly killed four people using an AR-15-style rifle kept in their home. The victims were Mason Schermerhorn, 14; Christian Angulo, 14; teacher Richard Aspinwall, 39; and teacher Cristina Irimie, 53. Prosecutors argued that Gray ignored warning signs — including his son’s fascination with past school shooters — and failed to secure the weapon. On the stand, Gray described his son as bullied and prone to anger but insisted he never believed Colt was capable of violence. The jury deliberated for less than two hours before convicting him on all 27 counts.
Common Sense Takeaway: This was the correct ruling and the accountability we need in gun ownership. His father did absolutely nothing to help his son process his anger or angst. Instead, he handed him the tools to commit a crime—it’s so bizarre, it almost seems like it was done intentionally.
Trump Tells Stranded Americans To Get Out of Middle East Now….Tensions across the Middle East are rapidly escalating as the U.S. shutters embassies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Beirut following Iranian drone attacks and orders nonessential personnel out of six Gulf states, urging Americans in the region to “DEPART NOW.” Israel has expanded its military campaign, launching new strikes on Beirut and Tehran while confirming ground operations inside Lebanon aimed at seizing additional territory from Hezbollah. President Trump said the conflict could last weeks — even suggesting wars can be fought “forever” — despite earlier assurances from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that U.S. involvement would not be “endless.” The human toll is mounting: Iran’s Red Crescent reports nearly 800 people killed in Israeli and American strikes, six U.S. service members have died, and 11 people were killed in Israel during retaliatory attacks.
Common Sense Takeaway: The Trump Administration launched these attacks in Iran without any warning or evacuation notices to Americans in the region. According to Trump, this decision was based on a “whim” he had that Iran may attack the U.S. I don’t buy it, and Americans have been killed, stranded and left out to dry because of it.
