Chuck Edwards Ends Reelection Bid After Ethics Findings….Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-N.C.) announced he is ending his reelection campaign just days after the House Ethics Committee said it found "substantial evidence" that he violated House rules related to sexual harassment and maintaining a hostile workplace. The committee accused Edwards of repeatedly engaging in inappropriate conduct toward two young female staffers, including giving lavish gifts, commenting on their appearance, and inviting them to intimate dinners and vacations. Edwards denies wrongdoing, arguing the committee's own findings cleared him of violating federal sexual harassment laws or engaging in quid pro quo harassment, but he will leave Congress at the end of his current term.
Common Sense Takeaway: Bye, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out! If there was any semblance of morality left in Congress, there would be a vote to expel him asap given that there are still women that work in his office—but the Ethics Committee determined that a censure was suitable enough. Thankfully, we will only have to endure this horribly-styled hair loser for a few more months, and then we can never think about him again.
Progressives Score Major Wins in Michigan…Progressive candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan's Democratic Senate primary, defeating Rep. Haley Stevens in one of the year's most closely watched races. El-Sayed will now face Republican Mike Rogers in a high-stakes general election that could help determine control of the U.S. Senate. Progressives also notched other victories across the state, including Donovan McKinney's upset of incumbent Rep. Shri Thanedar in Michigan's 13th Congressional District, signaling the increasingly growing influence of the progressive movement heading into November.
Common Sense Takeaway: As someone who didn’t support or respect Haley Stevens, I am very pleased that she is not the nominee. On a broader note, I think that the Democratic establishment needs to respect who the voters choose and stop treating them like a pariah because they don’t agree with all of their policy positions. There is a huge hunger for change and boldness—there has been for years (see: Zohran Mamdani, Brad Lander, Maxwell Frost, AOC, etc). Progressive voters are tired of being told who to vote for when the establishment's choice isn't always the one best positioned to win.
Max Miller Refuses to Leave Race Amid Ethics Scrutiny…Rep. Max Miller says he will not resign from Congress or suspend his reelection campaign despite mounting pressure over domestic abuse allegations made by his ex-wife, which he continues to deny. Miller also denies allegations made by former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham. His decision comes as calls for his resignation and a House ethics investigation grow—including from his former father-in-law, Sen. Bernie Moreno—and after President Trump privately warned him his reelection would be "a tough race." On Tuesday, he told Jake Tapper in an interview that 3 women who accused him of violence—his ex-wife, Grisham, and a woman who accused him of pushing her down the stairs years ago—are lying.
Common Sense Takeaway: This how a narcissist acts. No acknowledgement of the fact that his actions are hurting his own family every single day. His defense is that everybody is lying about him and he is the only one telling the truth. He claims it’s a politically motivated campaign. The only problem is two of the women—his ex-wife and Grisham—are both staunch Republicans. He wants to “stay in the fight” like Donald Trump has done, but he’s not Donald Trump, and I don’t think this will end as well for him.

Max Miller is a disaster for the Republican party, and they're not seeing it. Maybe that's because they think it's okay. He's going to create all sorts of problems for Republicans who are not protecting women, children or American families. I'm expecting more scrutiny of the Epstein files as women speak out against Miller's behavior.
