Happy Friday and welcome back to Common Sense with Ally Sammarco. Let’s break down the latest news.
Trump Unveils Election Documents, Pushes SAVE Act….In a primetime address, President Trump announced the declassification of intelligence documents that he claims expose vulnerabilities in U.S. election systems, Chinese efforts to gather voter data, and other election-related concerns. He again insisted the 2020 election was “stolen” and called on the Justice Department to prosecute those he believes were involved while urging Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, his election reform bill. However, Trump did not present evidence that votes or the outcome of the 2020 election were altered, and the newly released documents appear to describe efforts to collect voter information and influence public opinion rather than change vote totals. Intelligence assessments have previously concluded that while China sought to gather information and conduct influence operations, there is no evidence it interfered with election infrastructure or altered election results.
Common Sense Takeaway: The whole speech was a narcissistic man’s delusions. It would have been better served in therapy, not on the global stage. But of course, the whole purpose was to try to force through the SAVE Act in an effort to rig the 2026 midterms in Republicans’ favor. Why? So he can stay in power in 2028.
Trump Teleprompter Operator Placed Bets on President’s Speeches…Federal investigators are examining allegations that Gabriel Perez, President Trump’s longtime teleprompter operator, used advance knowledge of the president’s prepared remarks to place bets on prediction market platform Kalshi. Investigators believe Perez wagered on whether certain words or topics would appear in more than a dozen Trump speeches, reportedly earning over $100,000. Kalshi flagged the suspicious activity to regulators, and the White House says Perez has been placed on unpaid administrative leave while the matter is investigated. Federal prosecutors declined to pursue criminal charges, but regulators are reportedly negotiating a settlement that would require Perez to forfeit his profits and refrain from similar trading in the future.
Common Sense Takeaway: Corruption breeds corruption. Of course this guy thought that he could commit insider trading and get away with it. And honestly, by all intents and purposes, he is. Trump’s DOJ is refusing to pursue criminal charges against him. Wonder why.
Canadian Wildfire Smoke Chokes Much of the U.S…..Smoke from more than 850 active wildfires burning across Canada has triggered air quality alerts in at least 18 states, stretching from Minnesota to Virginia. Cities including New York, Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis saw some of the worst air quality in the world, with Milwaukee recording its highest pollution levels on record. Health officials are urging people to limit time outdoors as hazardous smoke spreads south, while the FAA has reported flight delays due to poor visibility. The smoke is expected to continue drifting into the Mid-Atlantic, including Washington, D.C., and Virginia, through Friday.
Common Sense Takeaway: This is why we need to continue to protect our environment, folks. The smoke is so bad where I live, you can’t be outside for more than five minutes. You can't "debate" your way out of polluted air.
That’s it for today. Thanks for reading Common Sense with Ally Sammarco. Check back on Monday for more.

Great article Ally! COMMON SENSE APPROACH is what I wish our LAWMAKERS HAD!!!
Judge Williams’ opinion invites a formal fraud-on-the-court motion. If such a motion succeeds against a sitting Attorney General, what happens? Who enforces a finding of fraud against the person who runs federal law enforcement?
